Our vision
That understanding the economy becomes a general skill rather than an elite specialisation — and that readers find a place where a number is read not as a passing headline, but as a signal that points to behaviour, and behaviour that leads to an effect on their daily lives.
Our mission
We explain economic numbers and data in clear, neutral language, and tie them to the decisions people actually make: work, housing, saving, spending, and the opportunities opened up by the larger shifts in the Saudi and global markets. We write for an intelligent non-specialist, explaining terms inside the narrative without slowing it down — and without simplifying to the point of distortion.
What “explaining the numbers” means
A number on its own means nothing. Meaning appears when we ask: where did it come from? What is it compared against? And what changes if it moves the other way? So our pieces start from a declared source, pass through a comparison over time or across a sector, and end at the effect — on the sector, on the market, or on the reader's pocket.
Who we write for
For Al Yamamah University's students and staff, whose contributions the platform is built on, and for any reader who wants to understand the economy without being an economist. The platform is bilingual: what is published in Arabic has an English counterpart, because part of our audience reads about the region in another language.
How the mission works in practice
The platform is organised into sections, each serving one angle of that mission:
- Insights — explanatory analysis linking an economic event to its effect.
- Equity Hub — reading capital markets and listed companies.
- Company Analysis — taking apart one company's business model and figures.
- Impact — where economic decisions touch people's lives.
- Terms — economic concepts defined for the non-specialist.
- Infographics — data told visually.
- Books and Cinema — the economy as books and the screen tell it.
- Certificates — documenting the contributions of our student writers.
Our values
- Clarity before eloquence. A sentence that needs explaining isn't written yet.
- Source first. What cannot be attributed is not published.
- Neutrality. We explain positions; we don't campaign for them.
- Owning mistakes. A correction is part of the text, not an apology for it.
- Humans are accountable. AI tools assist us; they don't publish for us.
What we are not
We are not a financial advisory service: everything published is for knowledge and explanatory purposes and does not constitute investment or financial advice. Nor are we an official spokesperson for any entity; the views in each piece belong to its authors.
