Recently, the newest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe hit theaters: Spider-Man brand new day, its been a hit with critics and fans alike, breaking box office records. However, in this article, I want to talk about how it highlights a very important part of any university student's life, which is the act of balancing life outside of our responsibilities.
Throughout the film, our protagonist, Peter Parker Aka Spider-Man, deals with the consequences of the spell that was put in the previous movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The movie follows him as he learns to balance his responsibilities as Spider-Man, but also learns that his life as Peter Parker is what makes him a good superhero. And as university students, we can learn a lot from this.
As university students, we often put pressure on ourselves to achieve the highest grades, often leading us to cancel hangouts with our friends and colleagues and avoid any activities outside of the curriculum, thinking that this would help us achieve better grades. This movie serves as a perfect example since, at the start of the movie, when Peter is solely focused on his responsibility as Spider-Man, his performance as the web-head starts to waver, even endangering lives instead of saving them. As the events of the movie unfold, he learns that it was an incorrect thought process and begins balancing both his life as both Spider-Man and Peter Parker.
This shows that this train of thought is incorrect, since at the end of the day we are human, and we need to socialize. Furthermore, we as university students need to have good social skills so that we can have good connections after graduating, not just for LinkedIn but for our own mental health.
So, to summarize, we should all try to be like our favorite web head, and learn the importance of balancing our lives, being kinder to the people around us, and always hoping that the future holds great gifts for us, since every day is a brand new day.
